TheOxide develop disinfectant products that meet tomorrow’s requirements today: fast-acting, non-hazardous for humans and the environment, green, and sustainable. Of course not all our products can meet all of these criteria all of the time, but it is our aim to make sure that we push the envelope as far as reasonably possible for each type of product we provide and application we support.
TheOxide currently provide four products: Bioxyl, Laquick, Torox, and Twist. With those products, we cover the majority of existing and emerging hygiene concerns: food preparation, health care and infection prevention, drinking water hygiene, and skin disinfection. All of our products are characterized by a low hazard profile, excellent efficacy and low environmental impact. In addition to that, Bioxyl and Laquick are low- or zero-residue and sustainable.
Bioxyl is a surface disinfectant for the food industry based on hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is a disinfecting substance with negligible side effects and zero residue, but is characterized by a low efficacy at the preferred dosage levels. For sufficient efficacy therefore, either high dosage, long contact time, or use of efficacy-enhancers (synergists, adjuvants, etc.) is necessary. Long contact times are normally only viable with dipping applications, not with surface applications. Bioxyl is formulated in such a way that low dosage, long contact time applications on exposed surfaces are possible, without the danger of inactivation through exposure to air. With Bioxyl, you can treat you working surface with a non-hazardous dose of hydrogen peroxide, leave your workstation for the night or for lunch, return the next morning, or after lunch, and immediately pick up were you left off before, with the reassuring thought that your workstation has been thoroughly and safely disinfected.
Laquick on the other hand is a very fast acting disinfectant, for universal use. Laquick too works at low dosage, but is nevertheless able, thanks to its unique composition, to effectively kill bacteria, yeasts, and viruses with a contact time of only one minute, on surfaces and in locations where infections absolutely have to be prevented. Its two main constituents, hydrogen peroxide and lactic acid, are biocompatible substances readily found in all living organisms including our own bodies. Lactic acid is sustainably produced through fermentation of sugar or starch, obtained from agricultural crops, and both hydrogen peroxide and lactic acid are completely biodegradable.
Laquick is the disinfectant of choice for the rapid disinfectino of surfaces and objects in the food industry and retail, and in health care. It is also very well suited for skin disinfection and veterinary applications, and can be used very effectively as initial treatment for biofilm removal in Legionella control in drinking water systems. It is available in ready-to-use spray triggers for non-professional and professional applications, as wet wipes, and as concentrated product for use in biofilm removal in drinking water systems
Twist is a product for drinking water hygiene (control of biofilm and Legionella in drinking water systems) based on chlorine dioxide. It is generated in-situ, in a generator that is installed as in-line dosing system in a building’s or institution’s drinking water system. Chlorine dioxide is more effective in the control of biofilm and Legionella infections than other commonly used disinfectants, has significantly less side effects and produces no, or very low levels only, of harmful byproducts and degradation products. And just as other chemical agents for Legionella control: it is more effective and reliable than either thermal or physical (‘gatekeeper’) control measures: it easily and reliably reaches all hidden nooks and crannies of your water system and protects your system continuously and ubiquitously against challenges, not only from the water supply, but also from dead ends, ingress through draw-off points, and contamination from breaches in the system (such as from repairs or modifications), all of which easily bypass any gatekeeper-type control.
Do you want to benefit from all the advantages of drinking water disinfection with chlorine dioxide, but you cannot afford, justify, or accomodate a chlorine dioxide generator? In that case, Torox is for you. Torox is a product based on two compact granular components that, after dissolution in a measured amount of water, generate a stock solution of chlorine dioxide that can be dosed in your (drinking) water exactly to requirement. It is ideally suited to the disinfection of small amounts of water of unreliable provenance, but also to the treatment of small to middling water reservoirs, circulating water systems, and drinking water systems where the employment of a generator is not feasible, for whichever reason.
